In fact i think Dream resolve the localhost (getHostByName) to select the interface to listen to communications.
Check on with IP it listen with netstat for example.
On the client side, it is the Java default resolution of the Socket classes, i don't know why sometimes it doest select the same interface.
try just with the IP to see if it works, it may be this problem.
