I am running the platform 2.3 distribution and I am seeing a huge performance issue with the petals.transport.qos set to reliable in the server.properties file. This is set to reliable by default.

I have been running Petals on both a Linux and Solaris box. I have a deployed a soap bc, eip se and 2 custom services. With the qos set to reliable, I am only able to process 1 message per second through Petals. When I set the qos to fast, I am able to process about 30 messages per second. The performance issue is due to the file $PETALS_HOME//work/joram/0/log. On my Linux box, I have a script that makes use of the inotify library and I am seeing that this log file gets modified 69 times per message getting sent through Petals. If the qos is set to fast, this log file does not get modified at all.

Can someone please explain how the reliable qos works and why this file is getting modified so many times per message?

Thank you for the help.
