I don't understand how it can be so slow. :? 
Some people are using this component with quite complex BPEL processes, and messages are processed much faster.

Would it be possible to precisely describe your running conditions?
Which client, on which machine, which calls to which node, how is exposed the BPEL process, etc. 
I think it is a small thing to change, the question being "which one?". ;) 

FYI, I'm on holidays tonight, so I won't be able to reply until the beginning of January.
I hope someone else will find time to give you a hand until then.
