Problem 1/ => If you say it's a bug, then probably it is. Thanks for sharing
your workaround :)

Problem 2/ => RMI needs to be enabled in the webconsole first. I fixed this
on the guide very recently :
- Install Petals-SE-RMI in Petals ESB.
- Click Manage connections on the top of Webconsole page.
- Click on your server (should be localhost)
- Check petals-se-rmi component enabled and click Submit.
